The OC's Pac-Man Machine went into runaway-overdrive mode on Tuesday night and nearly shorted-out electricity in the entire Metro Detroit area. Birmingham Seaholm's video game-like superstar, Richuad "The Pac-Man" Pack chomped up the competition for a breathtaking performance of an eye-popping 56 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the Maples 95-71 dusting of visiting conference-foe, Troy. Pack is having an insane start to the season. Combined with his 45 points in Seaholm's double OT-defeat of West Bloomfield in the Maples last outing, Pack – on his way down to Miami next year to play for Isaiah Thomas at Florida International – has accumulated an almost unfathomable 101 points over the past two games.  And the 6-6 senior's scoring barrage hasn't been at the cost of his team's success. The Maples are 5-0 and looking primed to repeat as conference champs. Not afraid to share the spotlight, the Pack Man wasn't shy in letting his favorite running buddy, best friend, and first cousin, Shawn "The Punisher" Conway, in on the scoring action Tuesday. Seaholm's "Big Pun" demolished the Colts defense almost just as badly as his main man and Cuz did, going for 28 points, 19 rebounds, five blocks, and six steals. A number of Conway's points came on thunderous alley-oop slam dunks thrown to him by who else?, the Pac Man himself.  These raging relatives could be the best 1-2 combo in the county, taking opponents out like professional assassins. All I can say to those who have the Maples on their schedule is 'Watch your back!'

Oakland County will be, at least partially, Chippewa County tonight as a number of former local prepsters suit up for Central Michigan in its GMAC Bowl game against Troy, set to be played on national television. True freshman, Cody Wilson, a WR from RH Adams, has slowly over the course of season developed into one of All-American QB Dan Le Fevour favorite targets. In the MAC championship game, he caught a TD pass from Le Fevour, showing his great hands by catching a rifled-pass from his star slinger going across the middle and into the end zone. Wilson has brought in 21 total balls for close to 200 yards and 2 TD's so far this campaign. He also has a more than commendable 34.3 yards per kickoff return average. Another true freshman with OC roots that is starting to impress is Eric Fisher, an offensive lineman from Stoney Creek.  Fisher is looking mighty nice protecting Le Vefour's blind side and thus has earned significantly more playing time than some initially predicted.  Milford's Mike Petrucci, a linebacker for the CMU 'D', has corralled 20 tackles and Ferndale's Chris Reeves, a defensive lineman, has nine. Also dotting the Chips roster are county stalwarts like Shamari Benton (Brother Rice), Jake Linklater (Lake Orion), Will Schwartz (Troy), Mike Maletzke (Brother Rice), and Adam Fenton (Seaholm).

Mad props go out to Oak Park's boys basketball that pulled off its first win of the season with a 63-60 victory over a very good visiting-West Bloomfield team.  The Knights attack was ignited by senior Jalen Crawford's 29 points, four assists, and three steals. Senior Kenny Harper, who scored 12 points and took down 10 boards, slammed home an alley-oop – via a pass from Crawford – that gave Oak Park a lead it wouldn't relinquish in the final 45 seconds of the game. Crawford and Harper are both rock solid wing players. The "diamond in the rough" for the Knights is junior point guard Terry Starks, a dangerous and crafty floor general who will help Oak Park get better as the winter progresses.
